Barney Bentall and the Cariboo Express

On Monday November 20, the Salt Spring Folk Club presents Barney Bentall and the Cariboo Express at the Fulford Hall and this concert is a fundraiser for the Salt Spring Food Bank. The past success of this popular event and the generous community cash donations and business sponsorships, have motivated the SSFC  to present this “best ever” show again in hopes to meet or beat previous funds raised. In 2015 $10,000 was donated to the Food Bank and that amount was doubled last year.

The Cariboo Express is a highly entertaining, one-of-kind variety show hosted by Canadian music icon Barney Bentall and features some of Canada’s finest roots and country musicians. The cast includes along with Barney Bentall; Ridley Bent, Kirby Barber, Dustin Bentall, Kendel Carson, Wendy Bird, Matt Masters, Leeroy Stagger, the Gold Rush Allstars and special guests. This stellar showcase of performers is all about laughter, storytelling and the timeless sound of contemporary songwriters with great respect for tradition. The show is a heartfelt set of roots, folk and rock favourites.

The Cariboo Express tour is raising money for food banks in over ten different BC locations. Through an inventive sponsorship model, local businesses are featured in song introduction monologues, using humour and sentiment to showcase the sponsor. Funds raised by this event on November 20 will be matched by the Bentall family’s Hawthorne Foundation. Donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt from Salt Spring Community Services Society and can be made at the hall this night or directly to SSI Community Services. The Salt Spring Food Bank relies entirely on donations and so this fundraiser is a timely community contribution to stock up for the Christmas food hamper program.

The Cariboo Express has become a sought-after event across western Canada that makes a significant impact on each community it touches with both its fundraising model and highly engaging show. What better way to spend a Monday night in November than at a show that is not just an incredibly enjoyable favourite for all ages, but one that makes a difference in the community too.
