The Bros Landreth take the lead for the Salt Spring Folk Club’s season on October 16 at Fulford Hall. Brothers Joey and David Landreth with drummer Ryan Voth and guitarist Ariel Posen have been together on and off for 30 years. Their debut release album “Let It Lie” won a Juno in 2015 for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year. Filled with mid-tempo rockers, butter smooth ballads and cowboy lullabies, it’s the sort of album that finds inspiration not only in the landscape of the human heart, but also the windswept prairies that stretch out around Winnipeg’s city limits. Their hometown was quick to embrace the Bros. Landreth, with the Winnipeg Free Press applauding the band’s “blues rock style songs resplendent with soulful harmonies as golden and warm as the late evening sun.” They once shared a stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival with Bonnie Raitt who said: “I haven’t liked a band as much as the Bros. Landreth in a long time…they blew me away…great singing, playing and songs and killer slide guitar. This band seriously kicks.”
Our own local singer song writer, Rick Neufeld also hails from Winnipeg and he will be the opener for this night’s concert. Tickets are on sale at Salt Spring Books and season’s passes will be sold at the door Oct 16 at 6pm
